A Guns N' Roses a világ legveszélyesebb bandájának a hírében áll, ami leginkább a természetüknek, a hozzállásuknak és az életmódjuknak köszönhető, de azért segítettek eme cím elnyerésében a dalszövegek is. Az Appetite for Destruction sikere után, szülők kollektív rémálma vált valóságga. A szex, drogok és rock 'n' roll nem is jelenhetett volna meg jobban szövegeikben.

A felszínen ezek a szövegek inspirálóak, megfélemlítőek, provokálóak, támadóak, költőiek, de egyben mélyebb jelentésük is van, pláne ahogyan Axl Rose énekli őket. A szövegek jól dokumentálták az énekes belső harcait az évek során, és a problémái örült dühhel törtel elő, mikor tintája papírral találkozott.
